Artist Statment:
This week in photography we learned about three new and different techniques to put into our photography toolkit for when we create new projects in the future. First, we learned and found numerous photos regarding balance. This is where you format the camera to take a picture of two objects that are very similar but that are on both sides of the frame. This makes it so that the image has an equal amount of weight because of two main objects. Second, we were then taught about symmetry. This is where the frame of the picture can be divided down the middle that splits the object in half. After splitting the image if both sides of the object are the mirror image to each other than the object is symmetrical. The third technique is called asymmetry. Asymmetry is where one side of the photo does not mirror the other. Also, it is where one object is bigger than the other object which is supposed to be smaller.

This week in photography we learned three new and different techniques that fall under the category of pictorial lines. These three new techniques are about a line leading to a subject, decorative lines, and arrangement of lines. Lines leading to the subject is where one or multiple lines are heading in the direction of an object which is the main focus of the frame.  I used my surroundings to find straight lines and manipulate my camera to have the line lead into the object. The second group of photos is about decorative lines. The rule for this type of photography is that the lines make up the majority of the picture. But if the lines were to taken away, there would still be a unique photo. Again I used my environment to find lines that are in front of a scenic area.  The third technique is called an arrangement of lines.  This style is where a photo is made up of line, but when the lines are taken away, there isn't a scenic photo.

This week in photography we learned several new techniques and one new idea. These techniques are leading lines, repetition, and depth staging. The new idea is called depth. In the first section of photos, leading lines are formed when there are one or more lines that lead from the foreground into the background. I demonstrated this technique by taking photos with strong lines that fade into the background. This is able to attract the attention of the audience. In the second batch of photos, there is repetition among the objects that fade further and further into the background again creating depth. I showed repetition by finding a large group of objects and taking the photo at an angle to show that the objects lead into the background. In the last group of photos, there are two main objects. One is very close to the camera while the other is further behind in order to show the distance and depth. I recreated this by finding objects in the room and placing one further away than the other.
