Artist Statement:

This week in photography each of us individually studied a photographer. I specifically learned about Byron Jorjorian who is famous for his work in floral and botanical photography. Our goal was to replicate the authors work by using our environment. There were a variety of necessities that needed to be included in this project to create his recipe. First I needed to take pictures of a variety of flowers. Then I needed to use the right camera with the correct lens to take a photograph of the flowers. Then I had to square all the images and edit them. I had mostly struggled with discovering ways to manipulate the camera to create a blur effect in the background of the photo. I had also struggled to find a variety of flowers within my surroundings. In my next draft for this project, I would like to get crisper photos and make the background even more blurry to make the flowers stand out.

Artist Statment:

This week in photography we studied Richard Avedon who is famous in fashion and photography. We learned that to create his recipe for success; there is a variety of requirements needed within the photograph. The main idea of this recipe is to show vulnerability in the face of the subject. Also, there needs to be a white background with nothing obstructing the subject or causing a distraction. For the final requirement, there needs to be a white and black filter for the photo. These new techniques will be very useful for later when we are creating our own projects.
