Artist Statement:
This week in photography each of us individually studied a photographer. I specifically learned about Byron Jorjorian who is famous for his work in floral and botanical photography. Our goal was to replicate the authors work by using our environment. There were a variety of necessities that needed to be included in this project to create his recipe. First I needed to take pictures of a variety of flowers. Then I needed to use the right camera with the correct lens to take a photograph of the flowers. Then I had to square all the images and edit them. I had mostly struggled with discovering ways to manipulate the camera to create a blur effect in the background of the photo. I had also struggled to find a variety of flowers within my surroundings. In my next draft for this project, I would like to get crisper photos and make the background even more blurry to make the flowers stand out.
Portraits Of Flowers:
Hey Steven nice Draft 1 fall series, you did really good job getting a good focus when coming close to the flowers. You were able to block the background at times and focus on the flower itself. NICE!
ReplyDeleteI love the composition on your draft one. The colors are vibrant but not too overpowering. Some of your photos were out of focus, So I would pay attention to that next time.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy the different focuses and vibrant colors of the flowers and think you did an amazing job. I love how the colors were not incredibly overwhelming they were very nice. nice first draft Steven :)
ReplyDeleteI think you really nailed your main goal here. All of these flowers are beautiful and carry and great presence within the photos. The colors are so nice and I love how the viewer is really able to see that you are focusing the camera on the flower subjects.
ReplyDeleteThe focus and quality of these pictures are really nice. I really like the different colors of every flower, and the different shapes as well. I think these are great pictures overall. keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteHi Steven, I thought that your pictures were good this week. You did a nice job of getting the flower's color and image to stick out. I think it's also cool that you blurred the background to bring the focus of the viewer towards the flower in question.
ReplyDeleteHi, Steven. I really enjoy these photos. What is working is the capturing of botanical life which is said in the description. what is also working is capturing one flower of the plant, not everything. Nothing is not not working yet I think the photos could have been less blurry. Good work though.
ReplyDeleteAmazing work this week! I love the color and the focus in each photo. I also love how the background is blurred for all the photos. I don't have any suggestion for you. Keep up the good work.
