Artist Statement:
This week in photography each of us created our second draft for this new project. I am focusing and learned about Byron Jorjorian who is famous for his work in floral and botanical photography. Our goal was to replicate the authors work by using our environment. There were a variety of necessities that needed to be included in this project to create his recipe. First I needed to take pictures of a variety of flowers. Then I needed to use the right camera with the correct lens to take a photograph of the flowers. Then I had to square all the images and edit them. There is a lot of vibrant colors in each picture. As well there is a natural vibe since the background doesn't contain any man-made objects. My goal for the next draft is to get crisper images and develop my skills when focusing on the subject of each picture.

  1. Hey Steven I enjoyed going over your Draft #2. The colors are not too bright but they do stand out. So do the flowers itself as you truly focus on the flower. I do think getting rid of the fuzziness would make the pictures seem a lot more sharp. Nonetheless great work!

  2. I think you reached your main goals of taking pictures of a variety of flowers and not having man-made objects in the image. I think that if you played around with the exposure or contrast, or even editing in general, you could enhance the look of the images. ONe image that would be perfect to play around with in PicMonkey would be the 3rd one. I think your focus and crispness works, but maybe a little more of that.

  5. I think you accomplished your goals pretty well. You did a good job on variety and the colors. But you like you mentioned, the sharpness could be improved. I'd try not using the macro attachment, because that adds unintended blurriness to the photo. I'd also try using flash stopping down the aperture to get more of the flower in focus.

  6. Hi Steven, these are some great photos. Based off ur goal these are a good variety of photos. These are also crisp and good quality. What can be improved could be the lighting. Good job!

  7. Hi Steven, nice job these week. You do a good job of isolating the flowers from their surroundings and even though, as you say, there could be sharpness improvements, you do a good job of making the flowers stick out.

  8. Great job this week. I like how each flower is different from one another. I like the cohesiveness of the flowers and the colors. I don't have any suggestion. Keep up the good work.
